Coffee and Cream

I've had this card in my mind for a while now, saw a Coffee and Cream challenge somewhere and been thinking of how to make one. It took a while as real life came in between as it so often does, but Simon Says Stamp Challenge has also chosen this as a theme, so I just had to have a go with my idea. The large flower is made of coffee filters, isn't it perfect for the theme, he he. The wonderful sketch is from Friday Sketchers. I'm also entering Penny Black Saturday Challenge and Scrapbook Sisters with pearls and lace.

I used:
A flower from the PB Illuminations set
The decorative corner from PB Peace Everyday
A cut out butterfly from PB Butterfly Ball
Sentiment, music notes, scroll and heart block from the PB Clearly in Love set
Distress Inks
Golden Perfect Pearl
Rangers clear fine detail embossing powder
Design papers from MME Bella Bella
Spellbinders scalloped circle die for flower
Bosskut flourish die
Buttons, ribbon, lace, sticky back pearls and crochet flowers are from my stash

Hope you have plans for a wonderful weekend, we're having a lovely sunny day and the temperature is a few degrees above zero so the snow is melting at last, yay!

Two cards and an award

Penny Black Saturday Challenge wants to see Mens Cards this week and I thought that this card might fit in as hubby liked it, and now you're thinking ah, but the heart might pull them off. I've found out that some of them do like hearts too, just keep the colours muted and manly. I also enter Stampin' for the Weekends challenge to make Monochrome projects.

I used a bamboo stamp from the PB Illuminations set, stamped and distressed with Distress Inks, sprayed with golden Perfect Pearls and water for shimmer and grain. A bit of doodling with a Sakura pen and bits and bobs from my stash.
I've linked this one to the Penny Black Blog Challenge, the theme is Easter and I made good use of some scraps. The hedgie is from the PB Hugs! set and I've created the background with different alphabet stamps, the words are in Swedish (sun=sol, twitter=kvitter and so on).

I have received an award from the sweet Sally at the Sallysbitz. It was so lovely of her to think of me! Well there are a few rules that come with accepting this award and here they are:

1) You have been tagged, do you want to accept? 'Of course!' then create a post on your blog and post the love blog photo.

2) Link back to the person who gave you the award and say if you accept.

3) Choose 3-5 of your favourite blogs to tag, link these in your post too and tell the lucky people they have been tagged. As the aim of this award is to bring unknown good blogs to light, please don't tag somebody with 3000 followers.

So, in no particular order, I pass this on to ....

1. Autumn Hathaway

2. Ellie

3. Mum's Monkey

They're well worth a visit and can inspire you in different ways.

Straight corners!?

He he, I don't know how to take pics today, it all started with the idea of taking a more interesting photo. You have to trust me on this one, it's a normal card with straight angles! It looks more like something scary for Halloween, I don't give much for my photographing skills if I've ever had any.

Ah well, let's move to the card - I need to make a lot more cards for Christmas and found a perfect challenge, it will make the card making more fun and somehow easier. Winter Wonderland Challenge has "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!" as a theme just now and we have actually lots of snow and - 10 degrees Celsius here, so there shouldn't be any difficulties to create the right atmosphere. Even though I hope that Spring will come as soon as possible with warmth and ice free streets.

I used:
- A free Elusive Images stamp from the Craft Stamper magazine, stamped with Versa Fine black and heat embossed with Rangers fine detail clear powder. The ornaments are paper pieced and covered with 3D glue and sprinkled with glitter.
- A PB snowflake stamp and sentiment from the Crystalline set on the MME Bella Bella paper.
- Spellbinders oval and Cuttlebug Vintage corner dies.
- A small gem from my stash.

I also have some exciting news to share, I'll be guest designing for Cupcake Craft Challenges in March. I'm thrilled as it was one of the first challenges I started to follow when I began card making. I've been working hard with secret projects and I'm looking forward to see you join us when we post the themes.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend, I'm much better now and have spent some time in my craft corner, so it couldn't be better. Thanks for all your good wishes and enjoy rest of the weekend!

Most Valued Player

Mainly pictures today, I've caught some kind of bug and youngest son is also poorly, everything goes very slowly today, but never has tea and biscuits tasted better, my favourite food when I'm down with a cold.

I've made an envelope using an template from The Cutting Café, this is the front of it. The image is a The Greeting Farm stamp coloured with Aqua Markers and stamped with a few TH. Alphabet and "star" stamps are Hero Arts, dots and curls are Penny Black.

I'm entering:
Our Creative Corner: Cut It Out!
A Spoon Full of Sugar: Anything but a card!
For Fun Challenges: Happy Birthday!

Here's the gift card holder...or in this case, a very generous donation. This American Football template is also from The Cutting Café, it could be used for a Rugby Ball if wanted. The MVP badge is also from them.

I've found a very handy and simple tool for eyelet setting from Artemio, wonderful to bang with a hammer and make some noise for a change, lol.

Now I do need a cuppa and a lie down.

Sweet Love Bubbles

I'm still in the mood for pink colours and have been rummaging through the paper scraps to make good use of them. The scrap heap seems to have it's own life, growing very fast every time I'm looking away. This time I cut them to 1 cm width and made a quilt pattern with false sewing, thrifty as I am, even the smallest pieces could be used for this one, I'd rather spend on stamps, lol!

The hedgie is from the Penny Black Hugs! set and coloured with Aqua Markers. The sentiment is made with a cut out piece from a Prima stamp and letters from an Exchangeable alphabet set. It's embossed with Rangers Cranberry powder. Highlights and doodling are made with a white Sakura gel pen. I also used Nestabilities oval die, QK nesting hearts die and a MS border punch. Embroidery floss, gems and flower are from my stash.

I'm entering:
Penny Black Saturday Challenge: Love is .... ?
Cute Card Thursday: Hearts and Flowers
For Fun Challenges: Hearts
Critter Sketch Challenge: Critter
Scrapbook Sisters: My Valentine

Less is More?!

Less is More is a brand new challenge for us who likes to make simple card, hrm, I feel the need to say that most of my cards are more like - if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing, lol!
But some of my followers might remember when I had a crush for one layers, it's still there, tempting me now and then, but o'boy how challenging it is with only one layer. So here we go again, it's very clean and simple for being me and I had fun.

The challenge was to use pink, black and white for a CAS card. My photo has changed the pinks to a more red tone, I'll see if I can come up with a better pic.

I've used scraps for the layered circles, they were distressed with Distress inks. I used stamps from the PB Clearly In Love set for the text and for the circles. Highlights, gloss and glitter were added with Sakura pens. Halfpearls are from my stash.

Thanks for visiting,

In The Pink

I've been having fun with my brayer again, the background for this card was masked (for the sun/moon, whatever you prefer) and brayered with different pink Distress Inks on glossy paper. The wonderful Elusive Images image is stamped with Memories black ink. The text is from the Penny Black Clearly In Love set, embossed in black Distress Embossing powder. Highlights were added with a white Sakura gel pen.

I'm entering:
Our Creative Corner: Branch Out!
Charisma Cardz Challenge: What, no embellies!
For Fun Challenges: Spring or Winter (still winter over here, need to wait a month or two for the spring)

Hedgie In Love

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend filled with love, I'm surrounded by my family so it can't be better and with some time for crafting and chocolate, so I won't ask for more, lol!

I've tried something new again, don't I always?! Hrm, yes, I've tried to make a cleaner layout with more space for the paper to talk. You know how colours effects the mood, something like I gave the cardstock a chance to glow. I'm quite pleased with the result.

I used:
Penny Black text and hedgie stamps from the Hugs! set
Aqua Markers for colouring
Broken China Distress Ink, black Memories ink, Perfect Pearls pearl
Worn Lipstick Stickles, white gel, turquoise and uncoloured glaze Sakura pens
EK success corner rounder/edge punch, CB embossing folder Frills
Ribbon and tiny beads from my stash

I'm entering:
Penny Black Challenge: A wonderful sketch to work with
Crafty Calendar Challenge: Love!!!
Cupcake Crafts Challenge: Old McDonald had a farm (no farm without a hedgie)
Stampin' for the Weekend: St Valentines Day

Lovely Tilda with flowers!

Oh, I had a blast with this one, at last I've learnt how to colour with the Aqua Markers. They are not difficult to use, I'm just a bit slow, lol! I found them easiest to use with an ordinary brush for water colouring, thanks for the tip Brenda! I just scribbled with the pens at an acrylic block and picked the colours from it with the brush and when I was done I wiped off the colours from the block with a damp cloth. The colours are easy to blend to get the tones you want, so a 12 pack goes a long way.

The photo proved to be more difficult, we have a glorious sunshine today and the Stickles are reflecting it no matter how I try and the dots on the papers don't want to show, they are really nice IRL. No bigger problems over here, just small issues!

Stamps: image from Magnolia, sentiment from PB, edge flourishes TH, corners are from Clarity Stamps
Colouring: Aqua Markers
Other colour mediums: Distress Inks, Stickles, white Sakura pen, Perfect Pearls and acrylic colour wash for roses
Tools: Nestabilities oval die
Accessories: hatpin and half pearls are from my stash, ribbons, heart button, papers and gems are a gift from Hobby och Hantverk (a Swedish craft shop)

Simon Says Stamps Challenge
: Love is in the air!
Charisma Cardz Challenge: Love/Valentines (second entry)
Just Magnolia: Going Dotty!
Cute Card Thursday: A fabulous sketch to work with!
The ABC Challenge: N for Nesties

Hope you get lot's of sunshine and hugs today,

Say it with Flowers

Good morning! It's a new month and it's time for our a new challenge at Penny Black at Allsorts. This month we have a wonderful theme, Say it with Flowers!

I went a bit crazy with this card, I got the colour and detail inspiration from an Indian restaurant I visited. I have a soft spot for Indian food, yum! Hm, well, the thought was good but when looking at it - maybe there's too much of everything. Just the way I feel about the restaurant's buffet.... after I've nomed me through all the dishes. And the worst thing is that it's entirely my own fault, can't stop in time and only pick my favourites, lol.

Favourites I used for the card:
- A PB hedgie (from the Hugs! set)
- nestabilities dies and embosssing folder
- Distress Inks for distressing
- CB swirl and corner die
- MME design papers
- liquid pearls
- Sakura pens
- Stickles

I used something new for the colouring, Aqua Markers. Letraset has very kindly sponsored whole the team with a pen set each....and are also sponsoring us with a challenge prize! Yay!!!! We have fantastic prizes this month, so ink up your Penny Black stamps or pick your Stickeroos and join us, you can enter with three different projects and get even more chances to win.

I made a second one, just in case you need some more inspiration for a more balanced card. The stamps are from the same clear stamp set as above.

Hope you get a wonderful day full of fun and with lots of crafting.
