Traditional Christmas Colours

Friday Sketchers has a fab sketch by Claudia this week. I used Christmas Tilda and the Laura Ashley papers. The ribbon and the buttons are Panduro.
I used watercolour pens, glitter and Stickles for the image. The drewdops were coloured with alco inks. The star button was coloured with Crackle Paint and heart shaped button with acrylics. The flowers are from my stash, I attached them to each other with a green adhesive florists use.

This week I have set up a small challenge for myself and that's the reason to why I'm showing a card with almost the same materials as the last one had. The inspiration comes from an eBook called Eight is Enough. The challenge is to create four diverse layouts or cards with just eight products from your stash of leftovers. (Basics like cardstock, a trimmer, and fonts count as "freebies.") Do you think you could do it? It's a fun way to use your stash and to make several cards in a row, I've chosen to count the Cuttlebug with its dies as one product.

Have fun creating today!

Curio cabinet

I thought about curio cabinets when I read that Simon Says Stamp and Show wanted to see anything Tim Holtz inspired this week. I have this wooden drawer on a shelf above my workdesk. The Distress embossing powders fits in perfectly as you can see, but it can also hold some collected bits and pieces.

Here you can see the right part better. A pendant from my honeymoon in China, Scrabble blocks (love party games), a ring from dad's aunt, hubby's army button, dad's navy insignia, a shell from Tunisia, Fairy Dust!, a Chinese coin and an old Cosmos pen (the Cosmonauts used this kind of pens on their space trips...could be a good selling story!) .
The left side contains old buttons from loved relatives, fossils from Gotland (a Swedish island), a rose embroidery from dad's aunt ( she was a real eccentric and artist), my childhood marbles, another pendant bought in China, a piece of a seal just behind it and eyes for a teddy bear.

The backgrounds are made with TH stamps and DI, there are also three drawings but they aren't easy to see, should have used fixative on them :)

I hope you enjoyed the small trip through my collected bits and pieces,

Starry night tribute

Oh, I've had fun with this one, layering acrylics, making highlights with Sakura pens, adding Stamscape images and sewing with golden thread. I added some glitter at one point too! Some of it is now covered with acrylics, no glittery effect there but some more texture.

The painting is a small tribute to Van Gogh's wonderful starry night, he made many paintings with starry nights, you can see the one I got inspiration from at MOMA. His painting is without glitter :)
I'm entering Gingersnap Creations challenge 65, for more information check here.

Hope you're having a fab weekend,

Autumn colours

Yesterday we had this years first touch of autumn with a chill in the air, so my card did get autumn colours although almost everything is still green outdoors. Some of the maples has got a few dark red leaves and my sons are going back to school tomorrow after ten weeks holiday. Some years summer ends so quickly! I'm hoping for some more warm days :)

The orange paper was made with Distress Inks and the red one was made with Alco Inks. The flowers are made of different scraps, one of them is coloured with acrylics and Perfect Pearls. The buttons has been embossed with a golden powder, fab way to alter recycled buttons from clothes.

Stamps: PB
Colouring: watercolour pens
Tools: MS border punch, QK flower and leaves, CB flowers and ornament , Sizzix flourish, Spellbinder oval
Accessories: K&C bling, Stickles, ribbon is from my stash

Penny Black at Allsorts: Glitter and Glitz, they are also looking for new DT members
Penny Balck Saturday Challenge: fab sketch by Domi

Hope you're having something fun planned today, I have some cleaning to catch up with and then some relaxing crafting to look forward to :)

Enjoy the Journey!

My intention was to make a very romantic card, but this went more to grunge look. I can't remember at which point the project changed direction, got caught up in the process I guess, he he.

Stamps: the focal image is PB, all other stamps are TH
Decor paper: Laura Ashley and K&C
Tools: MS border punch, CB flower die
Accesoires: Rangers Distress embossing powder, Liquid Pearls, Stickles, Distress Inks, brad and ribbon are from my stash. Even the ribbon did get some Distress Inks in my try to go for the vintage look. The card looks very clean anyway!

Sir Stampalot Challenge: Bring on the Bling!
Moving Along With the Times: Glitter!
Cupcake Craft Challenges: Blue and Green
Colour Create Challenge: Ivory, duck egg blue and green
Creatalicious Challenges: Vintage

Today I bought some adhesives and aquarelle paper and a fab sponge brush, I do hoard brushes, but kept my fingers from all other goodies. I'm saving for a bigger shopping spree and to achieve that I'm counting my projects. Just to show myself that I'm not in any kind of shortage :)

Blue Christmas Card

We've got a bright sunny day and I'm making a snowy Christmas card :)

I stippled the background with DI on glossy paper. All stamps are Stampscapes, the mountains are stamped with DI,, the grass in the front is stamped with Versa Color and then heat embossed with a sparkly and pearly powder mix. All the other are stamped with Memories ink. The snowfall is crated with a Sakura pen.
Sentiment is Kortmakaren and it says Happy Christmas and A Happy New Year.
The decorpaper is coloured with DI and Perfect Pearls, the pearls are made with Liquid Pearls.

ABC Challenge: blue
Stampin' for the Weekend: anything goes
By The Cute And Girly: animal antics
A Spoon Full of Sugar: Christmas in August

Vendy Wecchi style

Simon Says Stamp and Show has a fab challenge this week, make something with The Wendy Vecchi - Studio 490 Style! They have two fab prizes too :)

My first thought was that this challenge was very tough, Wendy Vecchi makes such wonderful art. But after a few days the pieces fell in place, I had this old key is from hubby's grandfather and it would be a nice thing to display in my try of the VW style.

The wooden oval is painted with two acrylics and a crackle medium. The flower is made with a Cuttlebug die, a heat embossed brad and a dew drop. The swirl is Sizzix and the heart is QK.
The green parts are stamped with different TH stamps. Distress Inks were used for stamping and distressing, even the ribbon is coloured with DI to match the flower!
The star button is from my stash and all the papers are scraps.

Hope you're looking forward to a fab weekend. I'm planning to visit a craft store for some adhesives. It will be very hard to not be seduced by all the other goodies, I've managed to create 11 things with my stash already! I should have hoarded loads of adhesives before my try to reach 100 projects, he he.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 63

Hope you're enjoying your Wednesday evening! The weeks seem to fly away when you enter WOYWW. Thanks for all the comments, they were much appreciated! I'm sorry I couldn't visit you all, but blogger or my broadband are making commenting so slow that it is ridiculous, sometimes I can't leave comments at all. Bah! Let's hope for a better week!

Last week I showed a linen fabric coated with Gesso and I think this is the final result or maybe I'll change something...It's a humble tribute to a famous painter (guess who!?) and you can see his painting at MOMA. I so wish I could go there some day!
The fabric is painted with acrylics, you can see them all in the large box.
The Stampscape buildings are coloured with Distress Inks and they are attached with PVA glue. I don't know if I'll frame the painting or sew it onto something, I have to think about it.
I'll grab a cuppa and visit some desks!

I am honored!

I was very surprised when Terry congratulated me on being selected as a GingerGem at Gingersnap Creations for my "Sunshine" card! You can view the other AWESOME GingerGem's creations here!

This really made my day :)

Big hugs,

Girl Power

Hope you're having a fab weekend with lots of fun planned! Today I've been busy crafting with a canvas, it has been in laying in my drawer for ages and I thought it was time to make something with it. I wanted to keep some of the texture free, so the canvas got a layer of different Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls. I stamped some TH stamps with Distress Inks and Versa Craft to create a background. The sentiment and the bird are also TH. The fab image is a download from Scrapologie printed on glossy paper. The brads are from my stash and I also used my DYMO label machine.

Here's a pic showing the gorgeous Perfect Pearl shimmer and the clear embossing of the bird.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 62

Happy Wednesday! Time to snoop around work desks again :) And there are lots of them at Julias blog! I tried to visit everyone last week, but phew, I did get so many interesting ideas whilst snooping around so I got caught up crafting instead. And I did get some fab ideas for storing, but crafting comes first!

So today I'm standing by my kitchen table coating a piece of paper and a linen fabric with Gesso. The roller I used turned out as a disappointment for Gesso, it works better with varnish. I used the plastic knife to create lines on the paper, maybe you can see it if you click on the pic.

Urm, yes, and I'm very organised! I believe it was Keryn who wrote that I could work as a teacher with my skills of organisation, and yup, I've been there! I used to work as a science teacher and could bring order to any chaos! But not any more, it's a fab profession where you get a lot back, but I developed asthma and couldn't work with the chemicals any more. I can still organise though :)

Hope you all get a fab day with lots of snooping,

Roses in August

Hope you had a fab weekend and are ready for a new week. We've been visiting relatives and were spoilt with lots of good food and good company. So I'm feeling very lazy today, in a good way! *Waving to mum, Bengt, Lasse and Karyn!*

I think I'm ready to enter a challenge where you're supposed to create 100 projects without buying anything new. It will be tough and I will be cheating by buying adhesives when needed as I don't hoard them. It will be fun to see how many projects I can make with my stash before I end up drooling in a shop, maybe I'll end with only 10, he he! So this is my first one! Here's the link to Helen.

Stamps: Magnolia image and words, Inkadinkado butterfly scroll (clear embossed)
Colouring: Derwent watercolours, Sakura pens for highlights
Decor paper: JB
Tools: MS border punch, QK leaf and corner dies, Cuttlebug flower die
And: KC bling half pearls, Hobby och Hantverk ticket covered with acetate from a package, Perfect Pearls, Distress Inks, Dimensional Magic for hair and shoes, ribbon from my stash

ABC Challenge: August

Blue Christmas

I'm making good use of my newest second-hand stamps, Freezing Tilda and the fab Hero Arts snowflake background. Love to make my own decor papers with the colours I want to use for the card.
Talking about colours, I find it difficult to colour images with red pens. So I'm trying to learn, but it doesn't come easy. It shouldn't really matter what colour I use!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 61

Happy Wednesday! And welcome to my workdesk! I have two finished cards laying upside down, the last thing I did was to add a small "Made by...". I've been between cards the last three Wednesdays!
There's also a finished cardigan on the sewing machine. This week I've actually been using my sewing machine for a card, YAY! Poor machine has been neglected for so long now. And my head is spinning around ideas with fabrics, cards and acrylics. Maybe I'll come up with something...

Here's a close up of my ribbon holder, fake bow easy and small bags for thread. I used the backing cardboard from paperstacks for the ribbon holders and for the fake bow easy, the later did also get a decor paper for a fancier look.

I'll make a cup of coffee and go snooping around some desks at Stamping Ground, join the fun you too! Julia has a fab hanging bin, I think I'll make one too even though all the smaller paper pieces always ends up at the floor. And from there they'll make their way to all rooms. I've heard hubby sigh and pick up small tiny gems from the kitchen floor. At least I'm not in for diamonds, crafty goodies and chocolate are enough for me!
